According to the news in Analysis by PC Magazine, the top 100 classic web sites are as follows.

Number one top 100 classic web sites is called http://www.about.com/. This web site falls in the category of reference & information. Number one of the top classic web site category. This web site covers many channels, everything from autos, education, entertainment, computing & technology, to even videogames, religion, parenting and family and shopping. Opening of the page is mellow and not to godey. Arthur Levin greets you and will guide you through theme parks . one of the hundreds of topics covered in this website called "about.com."

Number 2 top 100 classic web sites , top off in the Lifestyles category. This web site called "belief-net" is the number one classic web site in the lifestyles category. belief-net site is the largest multi-faith community on the Web, with sections for every faith: Christianity, Judaism, Buddhism, Islam, even Scientology in China's Falun Gong. (Sorry, Jedis. Try Star Wars.com) but more importantly, what makes us all the same-like our love of our kids, Harry Potter, and "The Simpsons". If you're not sure what you are spiritually, ask the belief-o-Matic to tell you.
This web site covers faiths and practices, inspiration, health, entertainment, comfort and support, family and home, relationships, and is a web site for every one to come together as one and share their thoughts of religion, but not only is it about religion , but what's happening with the world around us.
Special topics include recipes , which beats most of the religions, top favorite angel songs, topics about how to get more from God. You can develop a web site within this web site beliefnet.com. You can blogs and exchange thoughts, ideas, and even your talents.

It does amaze me that I would never guess that religion would be one of the top web sites in the search engine.

The number one leading web site is information and reference. Money comes next , in the top third hundred classic web sites. Then music, news, politics and government, reading and listening, science and nature, search, shopping and travel, social networking, sports, and technology. I would have thought or guessed that relationships would be the number one leading web site. I will be posting in the next few days on links with to these top web sites.

Running in the third position of the top 100 classic web sites, category is money. Number one leading web site in the money category is bloomberg.com. bloomberg is a web site that records news, marketing data, investment tools , and then last TV and radio. opening page is the Breaking News, " Waite surpasses nine dollars a bushel for the first time on Australian harvest outlook". This web site gives you quotes on stocks and other investment , and symbols.

As a marketing strategy

Eye tracking studies have shown that searchers scan a search results page from top to bottom and left to right (for left to right languages), looking for a relevant result. Placement at or near the top of the rankings therefore increases the number of searchers who will visit a site. However, more search engine referrals does not guarantee more sales. SEO is not necessarily an appropriate strategy for every website, and other Internet marketing strategies can be much more effective, depending on the site operator's goals. A successful Internet marketing campaign may drive organic search results to pages, but it also may involve the use of paid advertising on search engines and other pages, building high quality web pages to engage and persuade, addressing technical issues that may keep search engines from crawling and indexing those sites, setting up analytics programs to enable site owners to measure their successes, and improving a site's conversion rate.

SEO may generate a return on investment. However, search engines are not paid for organic search traffic, their algorithms change, and there are no guarantees of continued referrals. Due to this lack of guarantees and certainty, a business that relies heavily on search engine traffic can suffer major losses if the search engines stop sending visitors. It is considered wise business practice for website operators to liberate themselves from dependence on search engine traffic. A top ranked SEO blog Seomoz.org has reported, "Search marketers, in a twist of irony, receive a very small share of their traffic from search engines." Instead, their main sources of traffic are links from other websites.
